In 2015, Sophia was selected as one of 160 delegates (out of 1,500 applicants) for this JDRF
Advocacy event in Washington, D.C. Besides meeting with JDRF executives and T1D
celebrities, Sophia spent the day on Capitol Hill encouraging politicians to support
research funding. A special thanks to U.S. Congressman Paul Ryan, U.S. Senator Tammy
Baldwin and U.S. Senator Ron Johnson for making the time to meet with her. She ended
her time in D.C. by attending a U.S. Senate Committee Hearing on type 1 diabetes.
What a tremendous experience for her!
